How It Works
01
Place Your Order

Complete your purchase at DD214 Ammo. During checkout, enter your local FFL dealer’s information in the Order Notes field, or email it to us after ordering.

02
Choose Your Dealer

Select any licensed FFL near you. A local gun shop, sporting goods store, or pawn shop all qualify. Have them send their FFL documentation to us directly.

03
Pick Up Your Firearm

Once we verify the license and ship your order, your dealer will notify you on arrival. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and complete ATF Form 4473.

Finding a Local Dealer

Any federally licensed firearms dealer can process your transfer. Most gun shops, sporting goods stores, and pawn shops with a firearms section hold an FFL. Transfer fees are set by the dealer, typically ranging from $20 to $50 per firearm.

When you contact a dealer, let them know you have a purchase incoming from DD214 Ammo and ask for their FFL copy to send to us. Most dealers handle this regularly and can turn it around quickly.

Pro Tip

Call ahead before visiting. Some dealers charge lower transfer fees for purchases from veteran-owned retailers, and many will waive fees for active duty service members.

Can’t find a dealer nearby? Email us at sales@dd214ammo.com and we’ll help locate one in your area.

Submitting FFL Documents

Have your dealer email a signed, valid copy of their Federal Firearms License directly to us. This is the only documentation we need to process and ship your order.

Common Questions
No. Under the Gun Control Act of 1968, all modern firearms must be transferred through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). This applies to all interstate sales regardless of state laws. The firearm ships to a licensed dealer who conducts the required background check before releasing it to you.
Once we receive and verify the FFL documentation, we ship within 1–3 business days. After delivery, most dealers need 24 hours to log the firearm before you can pick it up. NICS background check processing is typically instant to a few days depending on your state and current volume.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or state ID. Your address must match your current residence. You’ll complete ATF Form 4473 at the dealer, which initiates the NICS background check.
Yes, transfer fees are set by the receiving dealer and are separate from your DD214 Ammo order. Fees typically range from $20 to $50 per firearm. Many dealers offer discounts to veterans and active-duty service members. Call ahead to confirm the fee before sending documentation.
No problem. Search “FFL near me” or use directories like FFLScope to find a licensed dealer nearby. If you’re having trouble, email us at sales@dd214ammo.com and we’ll help locate one in your area.
Yes, and that’s the preferred method. Just give your dealer our email address (sales@dd214ammo.com) and your order number, and they’ll handle it. You can also submit it yourself if you obtain a copy from your dealer.
